Suggestion Box
Please add your suggested changes below regarding the technical implementation, organization of content, or direction of Third Party of America.
[edit]
Technical Implementation
- Quorum Chat upgrades:
- Improve presentation of the chat room (style, navigation, controls)
- Eliminate many of the current chat rooms defined the quorum; this might be as simple as Public-Private where the default is to just click chat and be in a chat. (We may want to expand back to that later, but for now it is cognitive overkill)
- Convention Floor upgrades:
- By default, prune to the forum topics from just the past three months
- PoliticWiki upgrades:
- Replace the talk channels in the wiki with connections to new or existing Convention Floor topics
- Rediret all talk namespace pages to corresponding pages in the convention floor forum
- Commentary upgrades:
- Replace comments with new/existing forum threads
- Is this necessary? It might be nice to keep the blog commentary in the blog space. The reason not to is so we can easily turn a one-way blog posting into a multi-directional conversation in the forum.
- Create the page content tool to fill the resources page with the links in the blog system (and populate the blog links)
- Replace comments with new/existing forum threads
[edit]
Organization of Content
- Upgrade template:
- Reference different communication channels by the medium (i.e. "Chat") instead of the name (i.e. "Quorum")
- Move media channels into a pulldown menu to lessen the number of links at the top navigation bar
- Emphasize the "What can I do?" information as a major link, filling it with straightforward direction on where someone can go to edit
- Minimize the links on the sidebar, particularly in the wiki
- Create an "official" platform that is updated quarterly, with links to corresponding pages within the wiki and forums
[edit]
Direction of Third Party
- Pick a clear identity - Are we "Third Party of America" or "3rdParty.org" or some other version? What do we call ourselves?
[edit]
Some completed changes
- Create universal RSS feeds for newsreaders and aggregators, including our own front page
