my positions (david prinz);
first, the basic policy of the fed have proven their worth over the past few years and they need to be continued. basically, respond to recession by opening the money supply by lowering the prime interest rate. then when the economy turns around, watch out for inflation by gradually restoring the prime rate.
second, there will be a point when the national debt will affect or credit rating. since our currency is no longer backed by gold deposits, it is important maintain that good credit rating, and therefore, we need to stop piling on more and more debt.
